Workouts with a view in Bali
From sunrise to sunset, Bali is the perfect place to exercise with a picture-perfect view
With towering mountains and deep canyons, soaring cliffs and cascading waterfalls, luscious rice paddies and the azure Indian ocean, the Indonesian island of Bali offers plenty of opportunities to get active while soaking in some sensational views.
Hike up Mount Batur at sunrise
Bali’s active volcano Mount Batur sits at 1717 metres above sea level, its peak often emerging above the clouds. With an elevation gain of 700 metres, the hike is accessible to every fitness level, and the rewards of watching the amber sun rise above the horizon make the trek well worth it. After you’ve watched the sunrise, take some time to explore the rest of the caldera before making the descent beneath newly blue skies- you may even meet a few mischievous monkeys on the way down.
Yoga by the setting sun
End a day with the meditative yoga session as the sun kisses the horizon, casting gold and rose hues across the ocean and beyond. Situated on the Bukit Peninsula, Dreamland Beach is known to be one of the best spots on the island to watch the sun dip. In line with the sun, wind down with a sunset yoga session at Jumeirah Bali which overlooks the white-sand beach as it blushes beneath the setting sun.
Bike across the luscious landscapes
If you’d rather admire Bali’s vibrant landscapes on a bike, there are plenty of scenic cycling routes around the island. Choose to pedal on through verdant green rice paddies, past spiritual temples or through vibrant towns and markets, where you can stop off to admire the artisanal offerings of the local communities.
Go canyoning in Beji Guwang
For thrill-seekers, spend a day admiring the fascinating rock formations and crystal-clear deep pools in the hidden canyon of Beji Guwang where the water has been carving into the earth over thousands of years. The journey through the gorge will involve trekking, scrambling, climbing, swinging and jumping and you’re certain to get wet, so it’s perfect for the adventurers in the group. It is vital to have a local guide lead you through the canyon, so speak to your concierge about organising a tour.
Surfing at Dreamland Beach
Perfectly surrounded by limestone cliffs and coastal rocks, the waves at Dreamland Beach are great for keen surfers. As you gracefully ride the waves towards the shore, marvel at the towering cliffs, sandy beach and the expansive, cerulean sea.
Get wet and wild with some watersports
There’s no limit to the number of watersports available around Jumeirah Bali and whatever your mood, there will be something for you. If you’d prefer a gentle boat trip where you can stop to take in the landscapes, hire a kayak or a canoe and bob along the turquoise waters. For the more adventurous types, wakeboarding, kitesurfing and even flyboarding are also available as thrilling alternatives.
Dive deep with a snorkelling trip
Opt for the vivid views beneath the water and make your way to one of Bali’s bests spots for snorkelling. Dip your head beneath the shimmering surface and you’ll see colourful corals, an array of fish from the brightly coloured parrotfish to the rare Mola Mola sunfish and even little turtles floating along the seabed.
After a long day of exciting activities and tiring workouts, rest and rejuvenate at the Talise Spa at Jumeirah Bali
