Yoga

Jumeirah Muscat Bay is just a short 20-minute drive from the city centre, and yet the serene surrounds of our Talise Spa will make you feel like you’ve been transported far from a busy city. Hiking

With its rugged gorges and jagged peaks, Oman is an active traveller’s paradise. Lace up your walking boots and tackle one of the many hiking trails that crisscross the country. You’ll be rewarded with spectacular views and peaceful turquoise pools. Our concierge can also organise a 4x4 tour to Wadi Shab where you can explore surrounding caves, waterfalls and terraced plantations on foot.

There are also plenty of trails that are less than an hour’s drive from Muscat, including on Mount Baushar, which offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape and the Sa’al Stairs, a short but challenging mountainside trek which is best tackled early in the morning in time for sunrise.

Swimming and watersports

Perched on the Arabian Peninsula, Muscat Bay is home to a number of beautiful stretches of sand. If you decide to spend some time in the city, be sure to cool off with a walk along the palm-shaded promenade lining Qurum Beach. Further down the coast, Bandar Al Khairan’s Beaches are surrounded by natural rock arches, and it’s a sheltered spot to spend an afternoon floating in the warm water.

Back at Jumeirah Muscat Bay, take time out between refreshing dips in one of our pools, which are surrounded by palm trees, or relax in a sun lounger on our private white-sand beach. You can also enjoy an array of watersports, including Jet Skiing and stand up paddleboarding.

Diving

Dive deep into the turquoise waters among the mountains and bays of Bandar Al Khairan’s rugged coastline and glide over an array of colourful coral reefs and underwater rock falls, as well as Al Munassir, a 3,000-ton shipwreck. Conditions are at their best between September and January, making the area a must-do on your warm winter escape. With a range of reef dive sites, amateurs and experienced divers will find the perfect place to make a splash alongside members of our dedicated dive centre.

Snorkelling

Take a boat trip to the nine Dimaniyat Islands off the coast of Muscat, where a protected underwater wonderland of rich natural heritage lies ready to be explored. The clear, azure waters offer a chance to spot dolphins, turtles and whale sharks, and above water, you may be able to spot some rare birds that inhabit the islands, such as red-billed tropicbirds, ospreys and roseate terns.
