F is for Fountain

Go on a treasure hunt at Dubai Gold Souk, an Aladdin’s Cave of shimmering gold, silver and diamond jewellery.

 

H is for Hajar Mountains

A few hours outside Dubai, the scenic Hajar Mountains make a fantastic day trip destination. Hike, bike or paddle out in a kayak on Hatta Lake.

 

I is for IMG Worlds of Adventure

The IMG Worlds of Adventure indoor theme park is, like so many things in Dubai, the world’s largest. Enjoy the daredevil Marvel rides and dinosaur-themed attractions.

 

J is for Jumeirah

No A–Z of Dubai would be complete without a mention of the beautiful coastal suburb of Jumeirah, home to stunning hotels such as Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the iconic, sail-shaped Burj Al Arab Jumeirah.

 

K is for Kite Beach

Locals and tourists alike head for some pulse-raising activities by the sea. Kite Beach is one of the best spots for watersports, volleyball, beach tennis and kayaking.

 

L is for Legoland

A pleasure paradise with rides and a water park dedicated to the colourful little bricks; Legoland is a great Dubai day out for little kids (and big ones).

 

M is for Manousheh 

If you eat one local dish while in Dubai, make it a manousheh – a Middle Eastern pizza-style flatbread, generously topped with cheese, thyme and minced meat.

 

N is for Nightlife

After dark, Dubai buzzes to the beat of world-class international DJs. There’s so much to explore at night, from sky-high panoramic lounges to the city’s many souks.

 

O is for Outlet Mall

Dubai isn’t short of places to shop, and the Outlet Mall is its number one spot to shop designer brands like Burberry and DKNY at a discount.

 

P is for Palm Jumeirah

From above, this palm-shaped archipelago is instantly recognisable as one of Dubai’s signature landmarks. Those feeling especially brave  can skydive over the Palm.

 

Q is for Quran

The Quran is the holy book of Islam, which is the official religion of the UAE.

 

R is for Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary

A wetland reserve on the curve of Dubai Creek, Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary is a great place for nature lovers to witness flocks of pink flamingos, herons and osprey.

 

S is for Spice Souk

Wander through the maze of Dubai’s spice souk and inhale the aromas of fragrant cinnamon, saffron and incense. The piles of perfumed colour are a delight to see and smell.

 

T is for The World Islands 

A 300-strong islet chain in the shape of the Earth’s continents, The World Islands appear to float just offshore from Jumeirah. Luxury residences and hotels are currently being developed on them.
