‘Capri makes you forget everything’, Lenin once remarked when visiting Maxim Gorky in 1910. In great part, that’s thanks to its rich culinary traditions, centred around the freshest ingredients and fish caught off its coast, which transport visitors to another planet. During your stay at Capri Palace Jumeirah, Il Riccio Beach Club’s cliff top restaurant is a real treasure trove, with chef Salvatore Elefante focusing on strong flavours and enhancing local tradition with out-of-this-world seafood, both raw and cooked. Then there is L’Olivo, our two Michelin-starred restaurants where Caprese cuisine is given a contemporary twist by head chef Riccardo Valore, with signature dishes such as Lemon scented homemade tagliolini pasta with burrata cheese, red prawns and sea asparagus. Finally, Bistrot Ragú, overlooking the glittering Gulf of Naples, serves exquisite classics, from delicious pizzas prepared in a traditional wood-fired to ravioli Capresi, spaghetti alle vongole, parmigiana di melanzane or seafood tartare trio. It’s the ideal place for a lazy summer lunch or a light snack.
The Balearic island of Mallorca is teeming with excellent restaurants serving regional delicacies, from sobrasada sausage to tumbet, a sumptuous dish of roasted local vegetables. Set on a patio at Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel and Spa overlooking the Mediterranean, Cap Roig Brasserie offers the highest quality fresh seasonal produce sourced directly from the Mediterranean Sea, with a delightful menu that includes vegetarian, seafood and lobster paella. The restaurant is named after the red-looking fish that inhabits the Soller shores. Es Fanals, meanwhile, features an indulgent tapas selection, from cuttlefish croquettes to Iberian ham. Its signature dishes include grilled turbot with smoked butter, roasted figs and cream of peas and asparagus or fillet of lamb with black garlic puré, piquillo peppers and garlic confit. For light dishes inspired by locally sourced ingredients while you laze by the pool, there’s the Infinity Pool Bar, and we recommend its fish or shellfish of the day, served with a nutritious salad.
