Built as part of the Dubai Plan 2021 (a holistic roadmap for the future of the city), Dubai’s Design District combines the disciplines of design, art and culture, focusing on ways to stimulate the economy through bold ideas unique to this sun-baked patch of our planet. Their mission has been to connect the local design community and form a collective of the best local designers, artists and creative thinkers. The outcome is an ecosystem of inspiring ideas, contributing to the city’s legacy and ensuring that wherever Dubai’s future leads, it will continue to ride a barrelling wave of creativity and innovation.
Dubai Design District is a hive of Middle Eastern creative flair, with its spaces connected at high speeds to the world at large. You'll find venues for professional and social events, yoga rooms, art exhibitions and markets, education facilities, talks, shops and a variety of grooming services.
The cult-favourite Amato (Italian for ‘beloved’) is the UAE’s first international haute couture fashion brand, and an international sensation from the award-winning creative designer, Furne One and textile expert, Rashid Ali. Close by, Frame is a beautifully arranged Middle Eastern boutique celebrating Japanese lifestyle and culture, where you’ll find everything from vinyl to homeware. Finally, there's House of Adore concept store — a popular UAE specialist in women’s evening wear, founded in 2004 by Dawla Saeed Omair Ali Aldhaheri.
Decorated like a food hall, Akiba Dori is an indoor alleyway designed to evoke the colourful buzz of Akihabara in Tokyo. Unloose your senses with a flood of baked goods, coffee, ice cream, street food and well-priced drinks — not to mention a unique Tokyo-Neapolitan Pizzeria.
The spotless Swarovski Creative Centre is a modern hub for the design community that inspires creativity across fashion, art, jewellery and film. The centre hosts creative workshops, talks, exhibitions and events, as well as contributing training, materials and equipment to promising young designers. Citizen E is a first-floor gallery devoted to contemporary art.
Superstudio is one of Dubai’s foremost furniture and homeware stores, with an award-winning variety of furniture from world-famous brands, like Bocci and Cassina. The family-run Nakkash Gallery, renowned for high quality interior design, was founded in 1983 by Lebanese architect, Wajih Nakkash. They are masters of using internationally-sourced designs to create inspiring spaces with a strong visual impact. Ligne Roset has been showcasing luxury designs for 35 years, from worldwide phenom Didier Gomez to French designer-duo, the Bouroullec brothers.
